Help Us Protect Our Memorials
Nearly every American community has some kind of war memorial. Some have large memorials like the Vietnam Memorial in Washington, D.C. Others may not be as publicized nationwide, but their existence is equally as important to veterans across our nation.
Americans put up these memorials to honor their family and friends that gave their lives to defend our freedoms. The tradition of erecting war memorials to honor the dead instead of monuments that celebrate a victory began after World War I — and the most common symbol used in these memorials to our brave soldiers was the shape of a cross.
But recently, our memorials have been under attack. There are those who want to tear down our veterans’ memorials because they are in the shape of a cross!
Imagine America without our memorials. How would we remember? How would our children remember?
Our veterans have sacrificed so much for our country and for our freedom. They deserve to be honored, not to have their memorials torn down. Stand with us and tell those who would dishonor the memory of American veterans, “You can’t tear down my memorials, and you can’t tear down my freedom!”
Liberty Institute is currently defending two memorials under attack. Learn more about our fight for the Mt. Soledad Memorial and the Mojave Desert Memorial — and stand with us in support of our veterans and our nation’s memorials.
